Hello, I am a chartered psychologist, counsellor and psychotherapist, with several years' experience working extensively with adult and adolescent patients and using a Cognitive Behavioural approach (CBT). I am currently working on online platforms. I am well aware that seeking help or therapy is not always an easy decision. Most of the times this very decision implies undertaking a process of reflection and the awareness that something feels off - or is simply nor alright - and that pain or emotional discomfort are involved. Psychotherapy can be the answer as it represents a tool to better deal with the important and delicate moment in which we come to terms with who we are and we allow ourselves to change. Therapy indeed can help you nurturing your personal resources and overcoming the barriers that are blocking you from reaching what you would like. Therefore if you have any question or doubt, please feel free to contact me before booking a session.

During the current crisis, I am able to offer sessions remotely, depending on what technology you have available. If you're wondering about whether therapy can still be helpful to you remotely, please get in contact. I'll be happy to speak about how the experience might be different, how it might be similar and what I'll be able to offer. I am a family and systemic psychotherapist. I work with individuals, couples and families on a wide range of difficulties and have worked in a number of different public sector settings. Family and systemic psychotherapy is an inclusive and collaborative approach to therapy. Primarily, it is an approach that promotes respect for every individual’s experiences, needs and opinions, whether you come to therapy individually or as a couple or family. My clients know me for my warmth, whether we are talking about something positive, painful or difficult, and the sense that whatever they say, I appreciate their humanity and their intentions. My clients tell me I create a space where they feel valued, particularly in the parts of them that have felt undervalued, or even shameful. They tell me I create a space where they begin to be able to say what has previously remained unsaid and tell a new, more hopeful story. I draw on various approaches in my work as well as systemic therapy, particularly also compassion-focused therapy and mindfulness. The work could take any number of forms, because I adapt my work to the needs, preferences, diverse family forms and cultural makeup of those who come for therapy. It‘s very much about working ‘with’, not ‘on’ people. That said, it would tend to involve enabling people to explore, together or individually, difficult thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives. Family and systemic psychotherapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of depression, chronic illness, severe psychiatric conditions and couple distress. In childhood, it is effective in response to various mood and conduct disorders, as well as eating disorders. Please see https://www.aft.org.uk/consider/view/consider.html for more information on family and systemic psychotherapy and the difficulties that are helped by it. Please get in contact with me to book a low-cost initial consultation, where we will discuss whether I will be able to be helpful to you. You will have the opportunity to get a sense of whether you will find my work helpful. I am happy to offer telephone consultations before initial consultations. I do not assume any particular length of work with my clients, or frequency of sessions--this all depends on what you would want to work on. At the end of the first session, we would agree on how we plan to work together, and the ways we will review the work.

In order to become a Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychologist, I studied initially for three years at undergraduate level in Psychology and then completed a four year doctoral training course at the University of Surrey. I work in way that combines three different therapeutic approaches – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Humanistic/Person-Centred Therapy. Please see services page for an explanation of these terms. I also draw on other specific approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassionate Mind Training. I am a Chartered Psychologist with The British Psychological Society (http://www.bps.org.uk/) – the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, responsible for the development, promotion and application of pure and applied psychology.

Benefits of online therapy

Convenient

Online counselling or therapy is more convenient. Saving a lot travel time, participating from any device you prefer (laptop, mobile phone, or tablet) and communicating in a way you feel comfortable are key reasons that allow you to ease in to therapy.

Affordable

Online counselling is often more affordable compared to in-person therapy. While it does not mean that online therapy is cheap, it often comes at reduced cost as practitioners traditionally incur fewer costs.

Find a therapist who you match with

Therapy is all about the relationship. As such finding a counsellor or therapist who feels right for you is paramount.

Additionally, if you are searching for a mental health specialist with experience in a particular area of interest, you can connect with them without having to commute far.

High therapeutic results

In the past 15 years, a significant body of research has been conducted regarding the effectiveness of online therapy with positive results. More and more evidence supports the effectiveness of online therapies.

Are you a therapist who provides online therapy?

In the advent of COVID-19, we are waiving all Timewith referral fees for therapists till the end of June 2020 for therapists who practice online.

Includes free phone call with your therapist before your session.

Change therapist at no extra cost.

Your card is debited 24hrs after each session to make sure you're happy with how everything went.

I usually require my patients to fill and sing an agreement on how psychotherapy works, data privacy, ... I usually see my patients on a weekly basis and towards the end of therapy on a fortnight basis, depending on their needs.

Our first session will be an assessment which will help me to understand the nature of your needs and to answer any questions. The first session will give you the opportunity to establish whether you would like us to work together. If you feel that we could work together, we will arrange a regular time and day to meet for our weekly sessions. I appreciate how important it is to find a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable working with. With this in mind, I also offer FREE 15-minutes telephone consultation to enable you to discuss your situation or to ask any questions before scheduling your first appointment.

For the last couple of years, I have enjoyed working as a psychotherapist across a variety of settings including the NHS, the voluntary sector and private practice, providing both short-term and long-term therapy. I have worked with depression and anxiety as part of Talking Therapies in the NHS; with bereavement and loss in London, as general counsellor for young people for No5 and as LGBTQ+ counsellor for Support U in Reading. During this time I have been fortunate to work with a diversity of clients (including asylum seekers, refugees, students or LGBTQ+ clients) presenting a wide range of issues and difficulties. I specialise in working with issues surrounding gender, sexuality and identity, and the specific needs of the LGBTQ+ community. I am open to working with people with diverse gender and sexual identities, people who engage in chemsex or in consensual polyamorous relationships or people living with HIV. I am also particularly interested in working with anyone who has felt excluded, discriminated, oppressed, alienated, bullied, shamed and/or isolated in any shape or form.
