    Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

    100 Black Prince Road

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I guide you towards a deeper understanding of yourself, what you are struggling with and help you find a way to change and live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. Based in the psychoanalytic tradition, this kind of psychotherapy looks at how the problem you are facing today is linked to your past experiences; it explores what unconscious processes lay behind your present challenges and helps you understand and overcome it. I have lived in nine different countries, obtained dual American and British training and worked in both the private and public sectors. This experience has enriched me with exposure to a wide range of cultures and challenges. While I work primarily in English, I am fluent in Spanish, Italian and Greek. I am recognised specialist with AXA PPP healthcare, Aviva, Healix Health Services and VitalityHealth.

My counselling journey was inspired by my own experience of some valuable sessions with a counsellor a few years ago, and how positive and long lasting the impact of this was. I have now been working with couples and individuals, focusing on relationships since 2003. I offer specialist online therapy for individuals and couples experiencing communication and intimacy/sexual issues. I also work with clients who are aware that their viewing of pornography is out of their control and has become a problem. I offer a professional, flexible and highly confidential service.

I offer a warm, creative and reaserch backed approach to online counselling and psychotherapy. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck or unsure of your next steps, perhaps something is not allowing you to live your life fully. You may feel an underlying sense of unease even if things look fine from the outside. Together, we can create a space for you to focus on what matters, explore both your difficulties and aspirations. This can be an entry point to living life with more meaning, more joy and connection with yourself and others. As an Integrative practitioner, I draw on a range of psychological approaches. These include Psychodynamic, Humanistic as well as, Positive Psychology or Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Above all else I will listen to you attentively and respectfully; we can then both decide on the direction of our work together. I see counselling as a process of creative collaboration which does not need to be limited to a dialogue. Some people find it helpful to explore deeply ingrained patterns or complex feelings through guided imagery, dream work, drawing or movement. Others find that mindfulness-based cognitive approaches are well suited to their needs. There are many options, together we can find out what would be most helpful to you. I warmly invite you for an initial consultation without further commitment. It will be a chance for us to meet each other, discuss your hopes and worries about the counselling process and find out how we could work together.

Benefits of online therapy

Convenient

Online counselling or therapy is more convenient. Saving a lot travel time, participating from any device you prefer (laptop, mobile phone, or tablet) and communicating in a way you feel comfortable are key reasons that allow you to ease in to therapy.

Affordable

Online counselling is often more affordable compared to in-person therapy. While it does not mean that online therapy is cheap, it often comes at reduced cost as practitioners traditionally incur fewer costs.

Find a therapist who you match with

Therapy is all about the relationship. As such finding a counsellor or therapist who feels right for you is paramount.

Additionally, if you are searching for a mental health specialist with experience in a particular area of interest, you can connect with them without having to commute far.

High therapeutic results

In the past 15 years, a significant body of research has been conducted regarding the effectiveness of online therapy with positive results. More and more evidence supports the effectiveness of online therapies.

Online Therapy

Or perhaps you don’t want to commute and prefer to find a therapist online. With Timewith, you can book an appointment with an online counsellor or therapist, start chatting with them immediately through our private and encrypted chat service and have your sessions within 48 hours.

Includes free phone call with your therapist before your session.

Change therapist at no extra cost.

Your card is debited 24hrs after each session to make sure you're happy with how everything went.

ONLINE WELLBEING SERVICE I currently offer an Online Wellbeing Call Service which is on offer to those who experience limited access to regular therapy due to the limitations of their chronic health condition. The service is available to those who are mostly bed or house bound due to their health (please do not schedule a session for this service if you do not have a chronic or limiting health condition). If you would like to access the Online Wellbeing Call Service please schedule an Online Assessment first. This will allow me to assess your needs and how well you may benefit from the service, but also assess and risk (if you have not had an assessment and you book an Online Wellbeing Session, your session will be cancelled). PLEASE BOOK THE FULL 120 MINUTE ASSESSMENT EVEN IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPLIT THIS TIME OVER SEVERAL DAYS OR WEEKS. WE CAN DISSCUSS FOLLOWING ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENTS DURING OUR FIRST MEETING. The Online Wellbeing Service is available to book up to 12 hours in advance to allow to you work within your limitations. Very often with chronic health conditions, individuals experience a fluctuation of symptoms which can make it difficult to book appointments such as emotional support services. I hope that by making an online service available within 12 hours, you may be able to access this support with more ease (please do not book later than this time frame).

Initial Consultation Making the decision to start therapy may feel difficult for some people. You may not be sure this is right for you and you may have questions about what therapy is like. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable sharing your difficulties with is important. This is why we first meet for one or two sessions for the Initial Consultation. The Initial Consultation is an opportunity for you to meet me and get a sense of what therapy is like. You will have the opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to achieve through our work together and we will discuss together whether weekly psychotherapy sessions can be helpful to you, or whether a different kind of help would be more beneficial. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions or share any concerns you have about starting therapy. During the Initial Consultation I will also gather some information from you such as contact details, brief family history, illnesses (mental or physical) history, current medication, and we will talk about the practicalities of therapy (confidentiality, payment, missed sessions etc.). Ongoing sessions If we decide to start therapy, we would then agree a set day and time and meet every week. Meeting weekly will help keep the momentum of the therapy and make you feel supported as we unravel what is troubling you. Our sessions will last 50 minutes.
Vicky Reynal Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
My approach is to seek to understand how current emotional and psychological difficulties can have their origin in thoughts and feelings that are unconscious to the individual and may be located somewhere in past childhood experiences.

I work with people with a range of emotional, psychological and interpersonal difficulties who experience a great deal of anxiety and fear in everyday life. I work with people who are dealing with complex situations in their working life or in their personal relationships.
Psychotherapy does not offer a 'quick fix'. Emotional pain and suffering is real and the states of mind associated with mental pain are often enduring and debilitating, affecting your relationships, how you function at work, and how you organise your life day-to-day. Psychodynamic psychotherapy looks at your problems in great depth. It is a therapeutic approach that takes your mind and your experience as the focus of exploration and investigation.
Michele Lamonaca Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
Featured therapist
I have extensive experience of working with Adult Survivors of Childhood sexual abuse. I have worked in a prison with drug dependency. I have counselled women who have been tortured, trafficked and who have suffered domestic violence. My current focus is in working with couples because I have come to believe that if the couple nucleus works well, ultimately, we can create better societies. I believe that therapy is an adventure into the realms of feelings, thoughts and emotions, in other words a journey into our inner selves, where we can meet the best and worst of ourselves, but finally discover self-acceptance and even love. Are you ready to begin Your journey?
