I am a qualified and experienced counsellor who has worked in the mental health sector since 2008. In addition to my private practice I also work as a volunteer counsellor at a community health project. I work with adults who experience depression, anxiety, stress, low self-confidence, relationship issues, suicidal feelings, anger issues, borderline issues, problems arising from interpersonal trauma, or a stuckness or a sense of something not right that is beginning to affect their quality of life. A significant proportion of the clients I see have experienced adverse experiences in childhood leading to a range of presenting symptoms and issues as adults (some of which were outlined above). I have a core, four year post-graduate diploma training in Transactional Analysis Counselling and Psychotherapy, MSc in Counselling, certificate level training in both Group Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, along with significant continuous professional development training. I also have specialist training in working with developmental and interpersonal trauma (complex PTSD) in adults, and as well as being a CRM Trauma Practitioner using the Comprehensive Resource Model I have also trained in bodywork using the “Becoming Safely Embodied” approach. I am a Practitioner Member with the Scottish Confederation of Counselling Agencies (COSCA), am in regular supervision and abide by the COSCA code of ethics.

    Counsellor & Psychotherapist

    Heron Place, EH5 1GG

I am an Integrative ( Person-centred/Psychodynamic ) Psychotherapist based in Granton, Edinburgh. I build the therapy around mt relationship with each client, which means each approach is tailor made, and that trust is what underpins all of the work. I have 5 years experience, working with people presenting such issues as PTSD, dissociation, addiction recovery, suicidal feelings and recovery, depression and anxiety, male identity and sexuality and work problems. I have engaged in long term work with people recovering from suicide attempts and the subsequent rebuilding of their lives, i have also worked extensively with survivors of rape and violent domestic abuse. I had worked two years as a Samaritan which gave me a good grounding prior to becoming a therapist. I have found being a man beneficial to this kind of work, and found i was able to build long term trusting working relationships. I have a keen interest in both dissociation, addiction and anxiety, i find them very similar in that they are different ways of managing life that all make use of an 'extra' consciousness if you will.

≥ together we will first have an assessment session, to discuss your therapeutic needs and to see if we are right for each other. After this we will agree on a period of time for therapy and whether Art Psychotherapy yoga are for you or if Art Psychotherapy on its own would be more appropriate. Art Psychotherapy involves creating artwork in sessions and there is opportunity to talk about the work and anything else that comes up. Some days you may just want to talk and that’s okay. Some days you may just want to make art and that’s okay too. Artwork will be stored with me at the centre until your course of therapy is finished when you will be able to take it home if you wish.
