    Counsellor & Psychotherapist

    15-23 St. Pancras Way, NW1 0PT

Psychotherapist & counsellor with 20+ years experience, based in Kings Cross/Camden Town. Short or longer-term therapy in a safe and professional setting. I have worked for the NHS, a university student counselling service, and several charities, as well as in private practice. I have extensive experience of working with a wide range of clients and a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, sexual issues, abuse, domestic violence, bereavement & loss, identity issues, low self-esteem, work problems, stress, trauma. Therapy is concerned with exploring and clarifying your choices, values, or meanings, and addressing how you deal with the inevitable challenges of life. It aims to help you understand yourself, how you might repeat patterns of behaviour or relationship which are limiting or destructive, and how you might make different choices for yourself in the future. I aim to provide a safe space where you can explore your concerns without judgement, express and understand your feelings and thoughts, and gain clarity on what matters to you.

    15-23 St. Pancras Way, NW1 0PT

I am an experienced and professionally qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I work in North London - Kings Cross and I can also offer sessions in East London. As an integrative therapist I work in a Person Centred way, integrating Mindfulness techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, depending on your individual needs. I offer a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you can explore and make sense of any challenges that you are facing. It is my belief that many of the behaviours and beliefs that urge us to seek help were once coping mechanisms that have outlived their usefulness. Through dialogue, challenging, humour and willingness, therapy can allow for both client and therapist to explore more meaningful ways to live and meet life's challenges. I can also facilitate group workshops for organisations with clients wishing to learn life skills and self-management techniques such as sleep hygiene, food and mood, stress management, relaxation, relapse prevention and many more. I work in a LGBTQ+ friendly and sex positive way and welcome clients looking to address issues around sexuality and gender identity and those in A-typical relationship structures. Clients looking for support to integrate after psychedelic and plant medicine experiences are also most welcome.

    Clinical Psychologist

    Bolsover Street, W1W 6AB

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC. I have extensive experience of working in physical and mental health services within the NHS. I am trained to work therapeutically with a wide range of client groups. My clinical practice aims to reconnect people with their values and what is important to them during times which can present personal, social, spiritual and community struggles. Many of these struggles can bring with them a number of emotional difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem and trauma. I work alongside clients to make sense of their unique experiences and their responses to these, acknowledging the influence of the different contexts and environments within which they are situated. In addition, I am progressing my research into promoting wellbeing for women who have experienced multiple and severe forms of violence. I believe people, in whatever context, should always be regarded as human and therefore unequivocally be treated with humanity, humility and respect. It is of upmost important to me that I provide people with a safe and respectful space to explore the impact of their experiences.

    Psychotherapist

Beginning therapy is a really positive step towards moving your life forward and making changes that can make a real difference. Therapy can seem daunting, perhaps you feel unsure or apprehensive, but a large part of my role is helping you feel at ease, so you can make the change you want to make. If you are uncertain about getting in touch, I always suggest an initial consultation to begin with, so you can decide if my approach fits with you and if therapy/counselling can be a space where you can move forward. Therapy is a collaborative process: The two of us work together to understand the changes you want to make and how you might make them, encouraging you to find your own answers to the questions that you face, according to your own values and beliefs. Therapy and counselling are about opening up possibilities within a life that feels stuck, not about diagnosing or labelling. It can also be a time to face up to things previously ignored or avoided. I have over 12 years of experience working in different settings in both the UK and Egypt. I am also the managing director of the International Clinic, London: a multi-lingual and pluralistic service with a team of counsellors, psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists. My areas of experience include - Anxiety - Panic attacks - Body image related issues - Relationship issues - Depression - Eating Disorders - General Stress including work related stress My professional degrees and qualifications - MA in counselling and Psychotherapy - Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy - PgDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy - BA (Hons) in Psychology I obtained a BA (Hons.) in Psychology, then successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy, and a Masters degree (Merit) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My training as a psychotherapist was at Regents University in London, which is considered one of the best psychotherapy training institutes in the UK. I am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP). My on-going membership requires continuous training which makes my approach grow and adapt to new developments in the field. I am also a member of the Society of Existential Analysis (SEA). As a UKCP member, I abide by their comprehensive ethical guidelines. Before becoming managing director of the International Clinic, my work experience included substance misuse treatment units, private practise, psychiatric hospitals, NHS, and charities. I have been practising psychotherapy for over twelve years, with individuals and groups, in both residential and non-residential/private settings. My training and experience mean I draw upon several approaches in my work, including Existential, psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioural, and systemic theories.

Helen
At our initial meeting, I will invite you to tell me about yourself, what has led you to seek counselling/psychotherapy, and what you are hoping to gain from it. I might ask you some more specific questions as we go along, to try to get an understanding of your experiences. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you might have. In subsequent sessions, it will be for you to decide where you would like to start. This might feel rather awkward to you at first, but as we get to know each other, the sessions develop into free-flowing conversations where we explore whatever is important to you. My role is to listen to you and pay close attention to how you understand yourself and your life. I might ask you questions to clarify some matters, or sometimes to challenge how you think about things. But I won’t be giving you advice or telling you how to live your life. I don’t generally give ‘homework’ to clients or instructions on what to bring from one session to the next.
Helen Hayes Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Amy
Initially, I support clients to identify goals for therapy and these are collaboratively revisited and adjusted over time. I use assessment tools to help gauge where you are in terms of mood and anxiety level. These tools are then used during therapy at set intervals to help monitor change. I work both short and longer term depending on your needs and review regularly.
Amy Durden Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Lidia
We start with an initial consultation, which can be 50 or 90 minutes long. Some clients are comfortable with a shorter session and other prefer to have more time for this initial exploration. If a shorter session is chosen, most likely I will suggest that we meet for a second time before deciding together if to embark in regular sessions. Therapy then consists of one weekly session of 50 minutes (with the option of increasing to two sessions per week if necessary).

I work with adults on depression, relationships, attachement, borderline personality disorders, anxiety, personal development, bereavement and abuse. I have a multicultural background.
