    Penelope Ling

    Hypnotherapist

    Oxford , OX1 2NY

Penny has been working as a solution focused hypnotherapist and psychotherapist since 2007. Her specialist areas are phobias and general anxiety. Back in 1994 I stopped driving for 13 years. I had always suffered with a wide variety of phobias including spiders, needles, dentists, chimney pots, balloons and then driving. When I trained as a hypnotherapist I managed to cure myself of the driving phobia and manage the needle and dental phobia exceedingly well. I then went on to specialise in these areas. More recently I trained in nutritional therapy as I found myself working with food phobics, fussy eaters and eating disorders.

    CBT Therapist

    Oxford Road, OX4 2ER

I have been a qualified Counsellor & Therapist for 5 years, mostly working in a CBT way, but integrating other ways of working to enable progress in difficult situations. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is time-limited & focuses on resolving your specific problem. Both client & therapist collaborate to devise a formulation & goals to work towards, both in & outside of sessions. Education is a key part of treatment as CBT focuses on the interaction between thoughts, feelings & behaviour with the aim of empowering you to become your own therapist & preventing relapses. I offer standard 50 minute counselling sessions & treatment lasts between 6 & 12 sessions for mild to moderate cases of Anxiety, Depression & Insomnia that would effectively be treated by CBT. Experience: Anger Management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Business Coaching, Coaching Supervision, Depression, Executive Coaching, General counselling, Health related issues, Personal Development, Redundancy, Stress, Work related issues

My work begins with you (if you come as an individual or each of you, if you come as a couple/family) to tell me about the issues you would like to address and what the best outcome of our work together would look like for you. During the first session you can get a sense of me and decide whether working together with me we can make the changes you long for. It is up to you to decide whether you wish to continue after the initial session. If you decide to continue we will work together helping you find new ways of moving in the direction that you want to go. I work eclectically meaning I will fit the ways I work to you and the issues you present in a collaborative effort between you and me. I take a neutral stance with couples (and other relationships) helping you relate to one another so you feel heard, validated and begin to communicate in a way that increases connection, diminishes conflict and strengthens your bonds. I help families understand most problems with their children and adolescents in the context of the family, generational patterns including culture; I help parents acquire more effective ways of communicating with their children and with parenting styles. Change with couple and families will happen in the present during sessions creating corrective emotional experiences of connection which is an antidote to negative patterns. I often set tasks between sessions so that the process of therapy is a continuous one. Please note that I meet individuals and couples online. This mode of working is best for ages 13years and over and for groups no larger than two. I can do conference therapy for couples living at a distance from one another.
