    Clinical Psychologist

    6 Ermington Terrace, PL4 6QG

Sometimes life as a parent or a "mum to be" can feel hard. Sometimes anxiety, depression or trauma can prevent us from enjoying pregnancy and parenthood. This can be particularly difficult when everyone around us expects us to be happy. Many pregnant women and new parents feel confused about whether they have "post natal depression" or "PTSD" or whether how they feel is "normal". Working with me isn't about labels it is about improving your quality of life. Whether you have been given a diagnosis that you would like to work on or you just want to feel better and enjoy your day to day life more I can help. I am a Clinical Psychologist with ten years of experience helping people with their mental health. Having been through two difficult pregnancies of my own I know how hard it can be to ask for help when you are struggling. It can feel like you SHOULD be able to cope alone. However, the human brain is not designed to be alone. Book a consultation with me and let me help you reclaim control of your life as a parent and a person.

    Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Plymouth Natural Health & Healing Centre, PL2 3PY

As a transpersonal and psychosynthesis counsellor I bring to my work elements of looking at life and its difficulties from a place which allows room for the inclusion of spiritual exploration. The spiritual and creative approaches to life are not to escape from, but to enrich life, to live within it more fully. Through adopting a spiritual approach to living, I discovered freedom in certain disciplines. The first one is the truth, not because we lie, but because we often hide the truth of our feelings from ourselves and as this is therefore hidden from others, problems arise. It can take a great deal of courage to be truthful with ourselves first, and finding courage may be the first step to explore, but once experienced, truth with others becomes the only way forward and life becomes easier and safer.

Please note: the concession for a 30 minute consultation is for Plymouth only. Please state which preferred venue you would like to attend. Having arranged an initial meeting for 1 hour, I will email you a counselling contract, this explains what you can expect from me, it identifies a few limits to confidentiality and highlights my obligation to you as a therapist and a holder of your data under the new protection of personal information act. The first 30 minutes are free (Plymouth only). However, due to the 'Timewith' procedure, a full payment needs to be made. I would then refund 50% back to you after your first hour, or it can be used towards the following session if you wished to continue. A regular booking arrangement would be made, usually weekly or fortnightly, this can be discussed to suit. The number of weeks is up to you, though 6-8 with a review will usually yield a sense of change. Some clients stay for many months, some clients wish to have irregular monthly sessions.
